Dr. Raymond E. Barranco is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at Mississippi State University. He has more than 20 peer-reviewed publications in the area of crime and deviance. Dr. Barranco recently received a Secondary Data Analysis Grant from the National Institute of Justice. He also has a variety of experiences in managing, coding, and analyzing big data. Experiences include collecting, analyzing, and coding data from post-Katrina surveys of both Baton Rouge and New Orleans, combining and analyzing several large datasets for the aforementioned Secondary Data Analysis Grant, as well as routinely utilizing and combining large datasets such as the U.S. Census, NCHS’ Multiple Cause of Death data, and the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS).
